Aside from the months following the release of Heligoland’s second album “A street between us”, when we were joined by Ash Brideson on keyboards, for the most part Heligoland has always been a four-piece lineup: vocals/acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass and drums. When Heligoland relocated overseas the band reverted back to being a quartet which is how things have remained up until now.
But that’s about to change! We’re very happy to announce that we have a new member - Stéphane Pigneul has joined Heligoland on electric guitar. We first met Stéphane about a year ago in Paris and since then Stef has mixed a concert for us at 1bis, we’ve shared a stage when Heligoland played with Object at Le Mécanique Ondulatoire and we’ve spent many late nights together in various bars around Paris!
This is the first time in the band’s history we’ve had three guitars in the lineup and we’ve been busily rehearsing for the last few weeks working on arranging parts and songs with an additional electric guitar. It’s all coming along beautifully and we can’t wait to play our first shows with the new five-piece lineup.
Our first shows with Stéphane will be Heligoland’s upcoming concerts in Belgium in mid-June. We’ll be playing both shows in Liège and Namur with our friends Elephant Leaf who recently made their debut in Paris with a beautiful concert at Le Cleub. This will be Heligoland’s first visit to Belgium and we’re really looking forward to the shows!
