Barcelona and Paris shows, live-to-air

At the beginning of march Heligoland travelled to Barcelona to play our first show in Europe at Sala be Cool. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Barcelona and it was a pleasure to share a stage with Hafdis Huld and her band and Ramon.

Barcelona is probably not somewhere you’d expect to find yourself engaging in conversation about the cleanliness (or otherwise) of wallabies… but life is full of surprises. If anyone who’s reading this back in Australia has a spare wallaby or two lurking in their backyard… Hafdis Huld would be delighted to adopt them.

As far as road trips go, the return leg from Barcelona to Paris set a new driving record for Heligoland… 22 hours! It’s not a record we’re going to attempt to break in the near future… that’s a lot of coffee.

On Sunday evening we played our first show in Paris at Le Cleub. It was a memorable and most enjoyable evening! Our thanks to everyone at Le Cleub and to our friends 21 Love Hotel.

This wednesday Heligoland will be performing live-to-air on the radio show “Planet Claire”, broadcast on 93.1 Aligre FM in Paris. The show is on-air from 7:30pm to 9pm. We’ll be playing songs old and new as well as some from our current album.

On Sunday March 28 we’ll be playing in a more minimal, atmospheric style without drums at KitCh uP in Paris. We’ve dug deep into our back catalogue to include a few songs we don’t play live very often in the setlist for this show.

We also have a bunch of shows coming up very soon including more shows in Paris and our first visit to Germany. All the details can be found on the concerts page.

In the midst all of this activity we’ve also been working on some new songs which we’ll be playing at live shows very soon…
